The Process of Application
Our Kindergarten welcomes children from three years of age depending on their level of maturity and readiness for kindergarten life. Our Nursery group is open from two years of age. Parents are able to request admission any time of the year, but it does not mean immediate enrollment. The welcoming of new children is continouos in the educational year (from 1st September to 31st August). However, it is dependent on capacity. The final admission to our kindergarten/nursery for the next educational year ends on 20th of May. The director decides on the final approval. The parents will be informed on the 25th May, the latest.
As a first step our application form is downloadable from the website. With that sent to our email address or on the phone an appointment can be settled on. The appointment consists of a 2-3-hour long visit with the child where our day could be observed. During the visit all questions and concerns will be answered.
Documents required for the Enrollment:
- A doctor’s note that certifies the child’s health and ability to enter the public setting
- The legal gardians’ documents of identification and address card
- The child’s TAJ card (health insurance), certificate of birth

Bilingualism
Early language education is not a conscious process more like an unconscious acquisition.
The English language is not an aim of a circle time but the means of communication in our everyday life. The different learning activities are running with the “one teacher – one language” model as in the English kindergarten teacher uses English while the Hungarian only Hungarian for communicational purposes. This is a very successful model. All the strategies of native language development support foreign language acquisition. In each group we employ two English and one Hungarian teacher that offers continuity for the whole day when it comes to the second language.
Mixed-age Groups
“Mixed-age groups provide a more natural and calming atmosphere for children.” – Tamás Vekerdy
One of the Montessori method’s main characteristics is the practice of creating mixed-age groups. In distinctive ages different competencies develop. The age difference provides ample opportunities for deeper learning and for supporting skills and abilities in a multitude of ways. For example, younger children may have troubles in interpreting the teachers motions for dressing, however, could find it easier to learn by observing their older peers. The same kind of imitation learning is visible at the drawing table or during playtime as well.
For older children it offers benefits as well. It feeds into their pride and motivation since they are able to experience an “I am older and I am responsible for the younger ones” mentality that gives a big boost right before school. Also, as a whole they will be more tolerant and helpful towards each other without further reiteration of the moral and social rules.
Two-teacher Model
In our groups there are two teachers (an English speaker and a Hungarian speaker). This model supports the bilingualism and the continuous differentiation to provide more attention and individualized skill building.
Theatrical Performances
Twice a year we organise a quality cultural theatrical performace with the children. We choose our themes from the cosmics education field in every year. Montessori pedagogy and the project method also support our creation. We use child centered activities like dance, music, rhymes, tales and drama pedagogy.
The performances help
- Develop the children’s personalities.
- Express their feelings and thoughts.
- Cultivate their fantasy, creativity and the skill to personify a story’s character.
- Foster cooperation between peers.
- Learn how to move on stage, use props and wear costumes.
- Develop their sense of rhythm.
- Their confidence to perform in front of others using both languages.
- Improve their memorization skills and expand on their vocab.
The performances according to our traditions are always bilingual. The program is open for all interested parties. The dates and locations are announced on our website in the beginning of every December and June.
Talent Workshops
In our talent workshop (Optimal Giftedness Ready Education: OGRE) we work on the different parts of the Montessori pedagogy with a small group of children (5-6 years old).
One of our goals is to increase the use of the English language and to further develop the active and passive vocabulary. In our sessions we move as much as possible while using instructions in the second language. We believe that it is important to have fun while learning and this is what our program is based on.
Furthermore, we concentrate on school-readiness, that means we practise the needed skills and abilities.
